Exhibition-
preparation

Your interests, wishes, ideas:

In the run-up to the fair, you should think about possible future fields of activity and areas of responsibility, as well as what makes you unique. This includes:

Who you will meet at the RUB Career Fair:

At the RUB Career Fair, you can meet employers from the public sector, the private sector and NPOs. You can get an idea of all the exhibitors in advance. Where?

Online exhibitor catalogue on the website + exhibitor catalogue available at RUB a few days before the fair starts

This gives you the opportunity to find out about the industry and competitors in advance so you can prepare for the fair.

What you should definitely bring with you on the day of the fair:

  • Current CV
  • Tablet with pencil or notebook with ballpoint pen

How to present yourself well on the day of the trade fair:

  • Well-groomed appearance
  • Confident, focused manner with eye contact and a handshake
  • Remember: Addressing the person you are talking to by name (see name badge) is a sign of politeness and attentiveness
  • Have a short, practised self-presentation about your qualifications and wishes in mind
  • Speak for yourself, your concerns, your ideas
  • Avoid appearing in groups; one-on-one conversations are best and most effective.
  • Show interest, ask questions, take notes.
  • If you are not interested, politely end the conversation instead of dragging it out unnecessarily.
  • If you like the candidate, offer them your current CV immediately + a complete application afterwards, exchange contact details and discuss the next steps.

The trade fair is over, so what now?

  • Review your notes promptly and add to them from memory where necessary.
  • The more you know and have taken away from the fair, the more confidently you can approach your favourite company.
  • Follow up with the agreed application documents, referring to the conversation at the RUB career fair (see contact details exchanged).
  • Even without a specific application, a short thank-you email for the nice conversation can be a possible door opener for renewed contact at a later date.
